This was one of the first pictures of Guyana. We visited Georgetown's Botanical Garden early our first morning and I took my first shot at wildlife photography. Normally an abstract or portrait photographer, I wasn't used to following little yellow footballs like this one around trying to get a still photo of them.

Parrots are social birds, seen in packs loudly talking to each other, or at least flying two-by-two, because they pick a girlfriend and mate for life.

This extremely intelligent bird is also a beautiful one. Macaws mate for life, a monogamous partnership just like many Americans. In my mind, there is no denying that animals have feelings, similar to how humans do.

This little guy was hard to pick out in the green foliage, but once you saw him, he dazzled you with his fluorescent feathers.

Seeing the Harpy Eagle in the wild brought tears to my eyes. It's the largest predatory bird, and this one was just a baby, but was already so big. It was out of the nest, crying for mom.

Turkey Vultures are easily spotted soaring over the rivers. They have distinct white feathers under their wings and a red head.
